I have recently been researching and trying to learn more about interior design, this process has really helped me to develop new forms and truly understand purposeful design.
The first thing I have started to look at is using the 7 Principles of Interior Design to help Inspire My Vase Designs for 2023
As an artist and maker, I am always searching for ways to bring beauty and simplicity into a home or space. In a world filled with noise and clutter, I believe that design can serve as a form of sanctuary, offering a moment of calm and elegance in a home or space.
I've found that the principles of interior design provide a valuable framework for my work, guiding me towards a modern and minimal vision for my work. By incorporating these principles into my designs. I thought I would share some things I have learnt and notes I have taken and I guess give a little insight or behind the scenes to my thought process. I have applied some guidelines or a check list based on the 7 Principles.

Functionality: My work should serve a practical purpose, adding both beauty and function to a room. I want to ensure that they are easy to use, with a simple and intuitive design.

Space: My work should have a light and airy feel, allowing the room to breathe around them. I aim to achieve this through clean lines and an absence of clutter.

Simplicity: My work should embody the essence of simplicity, with elegant, unadorned lines and a limited colour palette. This simplicity allows the beauty of the form to shine through, creating a peaceful and calming effect.

Light: I understand the power of light in shaping a space, and aim to use it to my advantage in my work and designs. By creating pieces that reflect and play with light, I aim to bring a warm and inviting glow to any room.

Texture: To add depth and interest to my designs, I plan to incorporate a variety of textures into my work. I may explore the use of rough and smooth surfaces, or the interplay of different materials such as glass, stone, and metal.

Symmetry: Symmetry is an essential aspect of minimal design, and I plan to incorporate it into my work for 2023. I want to create pieces that are balanced and harmonious, providing a sense of stability to any room.

Attention to detail: I believe that the devil is in the details, and I plan to pay close attention to every aspect of my vase designs. From the curve of a line to the choice of hardware, every element should be carefully considered to ensure a flawless and cohesive design.
So, my goal is to bring a touch of modern minimalism to homes and spaces in 2023 through my designs, ideas, dreams. I believe that incorporating the principles of interior design will result in pieces that offer a moment of peace and elegance in a world that can often feel a little hectic and cluttered. I'm really looking forward to bringing these ideas to life and sharing them with everyone!
